As part of her campaign the for Longview City Council, candidate Angie Wean reminds us that “Longview Rocks!” While we need to tackle problems directly and aggressively, Angie believes we also need to celebrate the best of our community, including:
• Wonderful parks and dynamic recreational programs
• Lake Sacajawea — the jewel of our community
• Our local hospital for quality care and compassion
• Lower Columbia College for affordable higher education and vocational training
• Columbia Theatre, Mainstage Theatre and LCC Rose Theatre for first-class entertainment
• Black Bears baseball for economical fun for everyone
• A really outstanding public library offering lots of literacy programs
• Lower Columbia School Gardens teaching our kids about food and nutrition
• Longview Outdoor Gallery with 30 beautiful sculptures downtown
We appreciate that Angie loves Longview and wants to use her considerable talents to benefit all of us.
Vote for Angie Wean. She truly has what it takes to move our city forward.

According to The Daily News when asked about homelessness at a recent Rotary meeting, Councilman Chet Makinster stated "If I had it my way they would go out of town on a rail."
After 12 years in office is that what leadership looks like?
I don't think so. Longview deserves better.
It's time for a change.
It's time for someone who is serious about solving Longview's problems.
It's time for Angie Wean for Longview City Council.

"Hometown proud.” How fortunate we are to have two people who were born and raised in Longview running for positions on the City Council.
Both Angie Wean and Tom Lee have had opportunities to have life experiences in the bigger world and can give fresh perspectives on some of the problems that seem to have our current leaders perplexed.
Please join me in supporting and voting for these candidates who will bring energy and vision to our community.

Longview has a unique opportunity to elect Angie Wean and Tom Lee to our City Council. Both were born and raised right here. They will not tell the private sector to handle the tough issues here. They will work across the board to improve our community. No need for meanness or misinformation.
Tom Lee (Position 7) is a local estate and business law attorney, a former city attorney experienced in working with city councils and local government. Angie Wean (Position 6) is a proud R.A. Long Lumberjill with a great extended education and work experience. She is a thoughtful, approachable, motivated leader wanting empowered citizens, a strong community, a vibrant Longview and care for our local youth.
Our city will have a better chance at improving if they are elected.

Born and raised in Longview, Angie Wean is running for the Longview City Council. After graduating from R.A. Long High School as well as Washington State University, she pursued a successful career including her current position as an executive for Microsoft, which allows her to work from home.
If elected, two of Angie Wean's top priorities would be to develop affordable housing as well as to encourage business innovations which would attract fair-wage jobs.
Her greatest strengths include the rare ability to hear all sides of an issue and her rich variety of life experiences resulting from living in many parts of the country. She has a vision for the potential of Longview that will move us in a direction that will benefit all citizens.

Caroline Phillips' letter to the editor of Sept. 22 expressed my thoughts about Councilman Chet Makinster's comment about homeless people in Longview. "If I had my way, they would all go out of town on a rail."
Unless he was misquoted, that's a shameful statement for an elected official to make about the less fortunate members of this community.
My vote will be going to Angie Wean this November.

Chet Makinster’s remarks to both TDN and KLTV show he is out of touch and out of date. Chet demonstrated his lack of compassion for our less fortunate citizens and his inability to solve our community’s problems when he told TDN “If I had my way, they would all go out of town on a rail.” Chet showed us how he is stuck in the last century when he complained during a KLTV interview that “all they want is an all-lady council.”
Sorry Chet — no need to feel threatened. Women belong in the House and in the Senate, on the Supreme Court and on Longview City Council. My vote goes to Angie Wean.

Angie Wean is needed as a new member of the Longview City Council.
She is thoughtful, creative, energetic, and listens well. This ability enables her to work toward consensus so that action steps can be taken in a positive direction.

Many people are eligible for public service. Few people are really qualified for the duties required by the service in city or county government. Longview and Cowlitz County have too often forgotten when preparing to vote to apply a code of qualification for service to their choices on the ballot. Qualified means the candidate has life experiences and the mental discipline to consistently be creating the future community created by votes taken today to solve existing problems.
I encourage you, my fellow citizens of Longview, to support Tom Lee and Angie Wean. Both of these candidates have demonstrated proper qualification for public service by both their past activities and current presentations in public forum events. They will work for all of the citizens of Longview, not just a small group of friendly supporters.
